We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary this year with a Van Morrison concert at the pavilion in Boston, and a vacation week down at the Chatham Bars Inn in Cape Cod.
After checking in and unloading the luggage it was time for a little Happy Hour.
A little later we sat in the Inn's Stars restaurant where we had a fine view of the Chatham inlet. After dinner we were treated to a fine Sauvignon Blanc as a celebratory gift by the restaurant staff.
Tuesday was a day for rain but it didn't discourage us from outdoor sight seeing. We started off with a jaunt up to the Nauset Lighthouse, then to the Lobster Shack for some tasty chowder and onion soup.
We have to say that the Wydah Pirate Museum in Harwich turned out to be quite the discovery. We were expecting maybe something of a rainy day distraction for kids but it turned out to be so much more in providing the history of piracy, the true story of the Wydah Gally, Captain Samuel "Black Sam" Bellamy, and the beginning of the Golden Age of Piracy. The displays feature real articles of clothing, weapons, tools, and silver and gold treasure recovered from the vessel that sunk off the coast of Cape Code in 1717. There is also an hour long video one can watch that gives the visitor the backstory of the crew who searched and eventually discovered the wreck. We'd say this is a "must visit" destination.
Midweek we spent a lazy day with a couple's message, lounging by the Inn's pool, and kicking it on the deck.
But who takes this rotten game seriously anyway?
Thursday was our special day on the Chatham beach. Marrying each other again after 40 years will always remain our special and sublime memory.
